Correspondence with the Hungarian anthropologist Geza Roheim, beginning in 1920 with letters regarding books sent to Roheim by Rickman, then discussing the publication of Roheim's works, as well as other professional and personal matters and arrangements for meetings and visits. The correspondence with Roheim ends in 1938, by which time the Roheims had relocated to the USA; the letters are then followed by two letters from Roheim's wife Ilonka, dated 1938 and 1941.
Also included are copies of two letters sent by Rickman to Ernest Jones in 1941 regarding problems with Roheim's resettlement in the USA and the publication of Roheim's work. There is also an undated memorandum, apparently from the early 1920s, regarding earlier problems with publishing a Roheim manuscript.
In addition, there are several letters dated 1949-1950 regarding Rickman's contribution to a festschrift published for Roheim's 60th birthday.

Memoranda and correspondence regarding the German Psychoanalytical Society, covering the period in which Jewish analysts resigned and the society was reformed under a new regime. Also a small amount of material concerning the re-establishment of the German Psychoanalytical Society and the situation of psychoanalysis in Germany following the Second World War, including copies of a report by John Rickman concerning a visit to Berlin in 1946 on behalf of the German Personnel Research Branch of the Allied Control Commission.
Two later items are a letter of complaint concerning the annulment of the provisional membership of the German Psychoanalytical Society from the IPA (1952) and a carbon copy of the rules of the Berliner Psychoanalytisches Institut (1953).
Also included are printed statutes and rules (undated) and lecture notices (1924-1939; 1948).
