Correspondence, cuttings and typescripts related to Rickman's articles.
Correspondence, memoranda, reports and agreements.
Correspondence, mostly professional in nature. Where possible, the subject arrangement used by Rickman has been retained, although some additional work has been carried out to restore date order. These files are arranged chronologically (P03-C-A). However, some correspondence has previously been removed from the original order and this material has been arranged as a separate sub-series, arranged alphabetically by correspondent (P03-C-B). The majority of this correspondence is related to Rickman's military service during the Second World War.
See also P03-A-E for correspondence related to Rickman's publications.
Correspondence with and about the Hungarian psychoanalyst Sandor Ferenczi. The majority of the material relates to Ferenczi's visit to England in 1927 and also includes correspondence with Estelle Cole, Edith Eder and William Inman, regarding arrangements for the visit. There is also correspondence related to royalties for the works of Sandor Ferenczi following his death in 1933.
Correspondence with Robert P Knight of the Menninger Clinic and others regarding an invitation for Rickman to work in the USA, including an explanation by Rickman of his status as an 'independent' psychoanalyst. Letters in the files show that Rickman was not able to take up this invitation due to problems with visas/transportation.
