The story is entitled 'The Golden Cockle Shell'.
There are several pages of diary notes loosely inserted.
The notes include a section headed 'pleasures of painting'.
There are notes relating to Marion Milner's analysis with Sylvia Payne.
Marion Milner records observations of her life and feelings.
At the back of the book there are 3 pages of notes written about the notebook in 1932. One page records themes emerging in the diary and another has a piece to add to the introduction [of 'A Life of One's Own'].
Marion Milner uses this notebook to record ideas on techniques of self observation, 'Arguments re. Socialism', what should be recorded in a 'Journal Log Book'.
The notebook is in an envelope and many of the pages are loose. Also inside is a photograph of a young woman, possibly Marion Milner's sister Win or a friend.
The notes have been revisited in 1931 and 1932
