Summary and some drafts, plus notes and lists of references, for public lectures given in spring 1977 by Gillespie as Freud Memorial Visiting Professor of Psychoanalysis at University College London. The full text of lectures can be found in file P16-A-A-02; additional notes which may have been produced for these lectures can be found in files P16-A-D-05 and P16-A-K-01.

These files arise from Klauber's appointment to the Freud Memorial Chair (1981-1982). He died 6 weeks before the inaugural lecture was due.

The documents comprise correspondence with Professor John Wollheim and others of University College regarding the appointment; notes of ideas for the lectures; lecture plans; complete typescripts headed 'The relationship of truth and illusion in psychoanalysis', 'Truth and illusion in the patient's symptoms', 'Implied and Denied Concepts in the Theory of Psycho-Analytic Therapy', 'The Role of Illusion in the Psycho-Analytic Cure', 'The Role Of Spontaneity in Psycho-Analytic Therapy'.

The lectures Klauber completed were published in John Klauber and others 'Illusion and Spontaneity in Psychoanalysis'(Free Association Books, London, 1987).
