Between 1934 and 1939 Marion Milner conducted research into the education system of the Girls Public Day School Trust. This work resulted in the book 'The Human Problem in Schools', (1938).

The documents include reviews; notes; correspondence commenting on the work.

The documents also include material directly related to Milner’s work at various schools across the Trust, including Ipswich, Streatham Hill, Oxford, Putney High School, Wimbledon, Croydon, Portsmouth. They comprise general reports, reports on pupils and intelligence test results.

Some of the reports are handwritten, some are typescript. Many are accompanied by standard questionnaires completed by pupils to help Milner in her psychological assessment of them. They are questioned on their family and school life and pastimes. Many questionnaires are annotated by Milner. Some are also accompanied by drawings done by pupils at the request of Milner. The documents also include a prospectus for the school; leaflet describing the Psychological Centre for School and Home, Gower Place, London; related correspondence.

The documents comprise a mixture of reports on intelligence tests conducted by Marion Milner at the schools across the Girls' Public Day School Trust including Streatham Hill, Oxford, Kensington, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Putney, Bath, Ipswich, Birkenhead, Croydon, The reports show pupils’ scores on an 'Index of Brightness' and 'School Certificate Results'.

There are several accompanying notes from teachers.
